Virtual Director’s Talkback

Schedule a virtual screening and Director’s Talkback in 2022!

The Unruly Mystic: John Muir is currently available for public, virtual theatrical and private screenings.  Of course, it is our experience that theatrical screening of the film in a proper venue with good quality sound and projection with a live audience that can engage in conversation afterward is more meaningful than watching the film alone.  But we are living in a different time now. After screening the film with the community, the filmmakers generally do a talkback afterwards, besides answering general questions about John Muir, there is also good discussion around awe and inspiration.  People leave wanting to have more meaningful encounters with nature. This option is still available on Zoom and has also proven successful.  Learn about licensing a public or private screening to your community.

Virtual Events in 2020

We celebrated John Muir’s one hundred and eighty-second birthday last year at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic on April 21, 2020. The panelists’ answers about death, how they are connecting with nature while in isolation, and why John Muir is still relevant today, are all still relevant a year later!

The panelists consisted of the filmmaker and producer, a Park Service Ranger from Yosemite National Park, a retired historian from the Sierra Club, three theologians, and a Rabbi.

Our lively two-hour video conversation is broken into two parts, edited afterwards to help with the flow of the conversation.

This virtual birthday party for John Muir Day will be remembered for a variety reasons, but sharing our connection to John Muir, will be my fondest memory.
